The Way the Cookie Crumbles
Thank you for exploring my site. While I currently do not have babies available for adoption, my policies on breeding, health, and shipping will never change. I am a very very small time breeder, no female I ever have will breed more than twice; and am not in this for money, but to share the joys of a unique and precious breed. I have ample experience raising animals, and truly go the distance for all the animals I have at home.
Right to Refuse Service
I reserve the right to refuse sale, service or communication to any party for any reason, however, I awfully do never expect to have to pull out this card. Given the unique requirements of the breed, I will be questioning of new or inexperienced owners; however, if it can be proven you are up for the responsibility, I will be very open to communicating about lining up a Baldwin(s) for your home. Annabelle was my first Baldwin, and I am convinced my home is the best place in the world she could have gone;)
Contract
All Guinea Pigs sold through Beautiful Baldwins must accompany a contract that binds the owner to seek proper health care for their Baldwin and to treat he or she with kindness (no over-breeding, must live with a partner, social interaction, ect), and that lastly requires that if the Guinea Pig can no longer be cared for that I be contacted prior to the sale or adoption of the Guinea Pig to another party. This does not necessarily mean I will want the Guinea Pig back, I am just earnestly invested in the care of the animals I breed for the duration of their life.
*Ultimately people, I will not be privy to the above information past the sale of the Guinea Pig to you; the essential effort behind the contract is to help ensure the quality care of the Baldwins that leave my home; I am most concerned with over-breeding, and un-permanent homes; animals are responsibilities, not entertainment, cash cows, or flings that when you get bored of, get bored of having their needs met. Many of my animals in the past 20 years have been rescues; if you are not up to being a responsible owner in the utmost regard, please please do not inquiry about my Guinea Pigs.
Deposit
For the protection of both my Guinea Pigs, and myself, I do request a 100$ non-refundable deposit to be made before any Guinea Pig can be considered reserved. I can take payments via Paypal and personal check.
Shipping
I offer shipping both with in the United States and Internationally. Shipping costs will be determined by the airline used, destination, and number of Guinea Pigs purchased. I believe standard Guinea Pig shipping rate with in the USA is about $235. All shipping costs will include an animal carrier, a bag of food, and hut and blanket inside the carrier. Please read my health section in regards to health and shipping policies.
Health
The quality of my Baldwin's health is of the utmost importance to me. I work with an outstanding and overly competent exotic vet who has helped insure the health of my Baldwins could not be of more fine merit. I promise that at the time of sale, all Baldwins purchased from me will be in 100% perfect health (unless other wise noted). If shipping is involved, I can provide a 100% clean bill of health from a vet either the day before, or the day of shipping you your new friend; however, I will ask that this cost be factored into the cost of your purchase price, as I do promise I would send you a perfectly healthy animal regardless of the vet visit to prove it.
Breeding
I am not opposed to selling my Guinea Pigs into responsible breeding programs. Many of the people who foster the Baldwin longevity are responsible breeders, and I am thankful for the efforts these individuals have put forth. My only requests if you do adopt a Guinea Pig from my caviary is that she not be over-bred, and that where it is applicable, due credit to where he or she came from is given. I will always give due credit to those who have participated in helping me with any endeavor; and only ask that this courtesy be reciprocated:)
Absolute Tragedy
If you do purchase a Baldwin, and they do arrive dead, or die with in 48 hours, please please contact me right away. This will be equally shocking to hear on my end, and I will want to help you get to the root cause of why this tragedy happened. While I cannot make any promises, please do contact me in the event of this happening. I am very open to working out a deal to replace your Guinea Pig so long as we can understand why the precious wonder did not survive.
Photos and Content
As part of my work to respect others, and myself, I do not believe in using images, content or information with out proper permission being obtained, and proper credit given to its due party. I am totally enthusiastic about anyone using the images of my Baldwins for their own personal (not commercial) use, and simply ask for proper credit to be given to the content you use from my site:) I could not be more thankful to be involved with such an amazing community of people who enjoy the Baldwins and Guinea Pigs alike; I look forward to a life time of communication and exchanges with many of you.
